Question

Find the equation of the line through the intersection of 2x +y = 8, 3x – 7 = y and parallel to 4x +y = 11.

Open in App
Solution

To get the coordinate x & y, we need to solve the equation 2x +y = 8 and 3x – 7 = y

After solving, we get x = 3,y =2

Slope of a line parallel to 4x +y = 11 is -4

So, equation of the required line is (x-3) = (-4)(y-2)

x-3 = -4y +8

x +4y -11 = 0
