Solution

The line passes through the points ( 1,1 ) and ( 2,4 ).

The formula for the equation of line passing through the points ( x 1 , y 1 ) and ( x 2 , y 2 ) is given by,

( y y 1 )= y 2 y 1 x 2 x 1 ( x x 1 )(1)

Substitute ( x 1 , y 1 ) as ( 1,1 ) and ( x 2 , y 2 ) as ( 2,4 ) in equation (1).

( y1 )= 41 2( 1 ) ( x( 1 ) ) ( y1 )= 5 3 ( x+1 ) 3( y1 )=5( x+1 ) 3y3=5x5

Further simplify the above equation.

5x+3y+53=0 5x+3y+2=0

Thus, the equation of line passing through the points ( 1,1 ) and ( 2,4 ) is 5x+3y+2=0.
