Find the equation of the parabola with vertex at the origin, symmetric with respect to yaxis and passing through (3,5).

The vertex of the parabola is at origin and it is symmetric with respect to yaxis

Also, it passes through (3,5) , a point in the fourth quadrant.

Let its equation be x2=4ay ........(1)

As it passes through (3,5), we get

32=4a×5a=920

Substituting this value of a in (1), the equation of the parabola is

x2=4×920y

or 5x2=9y
