Question

Find the equations of a line which cuts the x-axis at a distance of 3 units to the left of the origin and has a slope equal to -2

Open in App
Solution

We know that the equation of a line with slope m and x-intercept d is given by y = m(x-d)

Here, m = -2 and d = -3

Hence, the required equation of the line is

y = -2(x+3) 2x+y+6=0
