numerator 50.

Open in App
Solution

An equivalent fraction of a given fraction is obtained by multiplying the numerator and denominator of the fraction by the same number (other than zero).

Here the given fraction is 57. To obtain an equivalent fraction of 57 such that its numerator is 50 we need to multiply the numerator of the given fraction i.e. 5 by a number such that the numerator obtained is 50. Clearly, 5×10=50. Therefore, 57 can be multiplied with 10 to obtain an equivalent fraction with numerator 50.

Now,

57=5×107×10 [multiplying numerator and denominator by 9]

=5070

Therefore, 5070 is a fraction that is equivalent to 57 such that its numerator is 50.
