Equivalent weight=Mol.WtValence.factor

Given reaction:

P4+NaOHNaH2PO2+PH3

In this reaction P4 is undergoing both addition and reduction reaction.

Therefore the equivalent mass would be equal to equivalent mass of reduction reaction + the equivalent weight of the oxidation reaction.

For oxidation reaction equivalent wt of P4 =4×314=31

For reduction reaction equivalent wt of P4=4×3112=313

Adding both, we get:

Equivalent weight of P4 =31+313=31×43.

Correct answer is option D.
