Question

Find the focal length of a concave mirror whose radius of curvature is 32 cm.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1, Given data

Radius of curvature, R = - 32 cm

Step 2, Finding the focal length of the mirror

We know that,

Radius of curvature = 2 × Focal length (f)

Or, f=R2

Putting all the values

f=322=16

Hence, the focal length of the given concave mirror is -16 cm.
