Find the force exerted by the water on a 2 $m^2$ plane surface of a large stone placed at the bottom of a sea 500 m deep. Does the force depend on the orientation of the surface ?

g = 10 $m/s^2$,

(a) $\therefore$ F = $P\times A=(h{\rho }_w\times g)A$

= $(500\times {10}^3\times 10)\times 2$

= ${10}^{7}N/m^2$

(b) The force does not depend on the orientation of the rock as long as the surface area reamins same.
