Find the general values of x and y which make the following expression a perfect square:
5x2+y2.

5x2+3y2
5x2=x2y2
Putting 5mx=n(z+y)
nx=m(zy)
By cross-multiplication , we get;-
x2mn=y5m2n2=z5m2+n2
Hence, x=2mn,y=5m2n2 and the hypotenuse is 5m2+n2.
