Solution

The correct option is A 65Kcalmol1
2C(s)+3H2(g)+12O2(s)C2H5OH(l)

Given: C(s)+O2(g)CO2(g)ΔH1=94Kcal.....(i)

H2(s)+12O2(g)H2O(l)ΔH2=68Kcal......(ii)

C2H5OH(l)+3O2(g)2CO2(g)ΔH3=372Kcal+3H2O(l)......(iii)

Operate: 2(i)+3(ii)(iii) to get ΔfH=2(ΔH1)+3(ΔH2)ΔH3

=2(94)+3(68)(327) =65Kcalmol1

Hence, the heat of formation of ethyl alcohol is 65 Kcal/mol.
