There are 12 hours in a clock. When the hour hand completes one revolution (to complete one circle) it covers 360 degrees. Therefore to move from 12 o’clock to 1 o’clock it travels 360/12 = 30°.

When the time is 3 o’ clock the outer angle will be (30 + 30+30 ...8 times ) or 30 x 8 to complete 360°. So 30X8 = 270°. ∴ The greater angle formed is 270°.
