Find the lateral surface area and total surface area of square based prism with base edge $5$ cm and height $10$ cm.

Solution

We are given $a = 5$ cm, $h = 10$ cm. We have to find L.S.A and T.S.A. Perimeter of the square $P = 4 a = 4 \times 5 = 20$ cm. Hence L.S.A $= P h = 20 \times 10 = 200 c m^{2}$ .
T.S.A. $= 2 B + P h = 2 a^{2} + P h = 2 \times 5^{2} + 200 = 50 + 200 = 250 c m^{2}$ .
