The above right prism with each side equal to $4cm$ is like a cube with an equal side.

Then the lateral surface area of prism = Area of four side (base and top area is excluded)

$=4\times (side{)}^2=4\times (4{)}^2=64c{m}^2$

And, The total surface area = Area of 6 sides

$=6\times (Side{)}^2=6\times (4{)}^2=6\times 16=96c{m}^2$
