Find the lateral surface area of the given cylinder whose radius is 7cm and height 18cm . If the height of the cylinder is halved, then find the new lateral surface area. [3 MARKS]

We know that

The Lateral surface area of cylinder
=2πrh

2π×7×18=792 cm2

When the height is reduced to half then using the same formula for the lateral surface area

we have

2π×7×9=396 cm2
