Properties of a rectangle:
(1) Opposite sides are equal in length.
(2) Opposite sides are parallel to each other.
(3) All angles are equal to 90°.
(4) Sum of adjacent angles is 180°.
(5) Diagonals are equal in measure and bisect each other.

Here, AC and BD are the diagonals of the rectangle ABCD. They bisect each other at the point O.

So, BO = OD = 4 cm
∴ BD = BO + OD = 4 + 4 = 8 cm

So, BD = AC = 8 cm
