Question

Find the mean of the first five prime numbers?

Open in App
Solution

Compute the required mean:

Prime numbers are numbers with only two factors: the number one and the number itself. We know that, 2,3,5,7 and 11 are the first five prime numbers.

The mean is computed by dividing the sum of observations by the number of observations.

Therefore, to calculate the mean we have,

2+3+5+7+115=285=5.6

Hence, the mean of the first five prime numbers is 5.6.
