Question

Find the molecular mass of:
(a) H2S (b) HCl (c)NH3 (d) Cl2 (e) CH3COOH (f) CH3CHO

Open in App
Solution

  • The molecular mass H is 1 g.
  • The molecular mass of S is 32 g.
  • The molecular mass of Cl is 35.5 g.
  • The molecular mass of N is 14 g.
  • The molecular mass of C is 12 g.

H2S is 2 × 1 + 32 = 34 g.

HCl is 1 + 35.5 = 36.5 g.

NH3 is 14 + 3 × 1 = 17 g.

Cl2 is 2 × 35.5 = 71 g.

CH3COOH is 2 × 12 + 4 × 1 + 2 × 16 = 60 g.

CH3CHO is 2 × 12 + 16 + 4 × 1 = 34 g.
