Let us split the above series into two series. The first series will have all the odd terms and the second series will have all the even terms, then the series are:

The sequence of odd terms: 9, 49, 89, 129, 169

The sequence of even terms: 109, 149, 189, 229,

For the sequence of odd terms: 49 - 9 =40, 89 - 49 = 40, 129 - 89 = 40, 169 -129 = 40

For the sequence of even terms: 149 - 109 = 40, 189 - 149 = 40, 229 - 189 = 40

We observe in each of the two sequences that each term is 40 more than the previous term.
