Question

Find the nonzero value of k for which the roots of the quadratic equation 9x square - 3k x + K is equal to zero a real and equal

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student!

The equation is… 9x^2 – 3kx +k =0
Since both roots are real and equal….D=0 ie. b^2-4ac=0
b=9k, a=9, c=k
9k^2- 4*9*k=0
K^2 – 4k= 0
K(k-4)=0
=> k=0 or k=4
