Question

Find the number of sides in a regular polygon if each interior angle is eight times the adjacent exterior angle

Open in App
Solution

The sum of exterior angle and its adjacent interior is 1800, that is,

e+i=1800

Since each interior angle is eight times the adjacent exterior angle, therefore, substitute i=8e.

e+8e=18009e=1800e=18009=200

We know that the measure of exterior angle is e=(360n)0 where n is the number of sides.

Here, it is given that the exterior angle is e=200, therefore,

n=360e=36020=18

Hence, the number of sides is 18.
