Question

Find the number of sides in a regular polygon if each interior angle is seventeen times the adjacent exterior angle

Open in App
Solution

The sum of exterior angle and its adjacent interior is 1800, that is,

e+i=1800

Since each interior angle is seventeen times the adjacent exterior angle, therefore, substitute i=17e.

e+17e=180018e=1800e=180018=100

We know that the measure of exterior angle is e=(360n)0 where n is the number of sides.

Here, it is given that the exterior angle is e=100, therefore,

n=360e=36010=36

Hence, the number of sides is 36.
