Question

Find the number of sides in a regular polygon if each interior angle is twice the adjacent exterior angle

Open in App
Solution

The sum of exterior angle and its adjacent interior is 1800, that is,

e+i=1800

Since each interior angle is twice its adjacent exterior angle, therefore, substitute i=2e.

e+2e=18003e=1800e=18003=600

We know that the measure of exterior angle is e=(360n)0 where n is the number of sides.

Here, it is given that the exterior angle is e=600, therefore,

n=360e=36060=6

Hence, the number of sides is 6.
