Put $x = 8$ and $y = 3$ in the given expression:
$3 x^{2} y - 4 x y^{2} = 3 {(8)}^{2} (3) - 4 (8) {(3)}^{2}$
$= 3 \times 64 \times 3 - 4 \times 8 \times 9$
$= 576 - 288$
$= 288$
Hence the numerical value of $3 x^{2} y - 4 x y^{2}$ is $288 .$
