Parts of flower:

  1. Flower consists of a flower whorl and stalk with which the flower is attached to the main axis of the plant.
  2. The flower has four whorls : Calyx (sepal), corolla (petal), androecium (stamen) and gynoecium (pistil).
    • Sepal/Calyx: Sepals are the green-colored portion beneath the petals. Sepals help in protecting the rising buds.

    • Carpels/Gynoecium: Female reproductive organs are called pistils or carpels. These are the innermost parts where seed formation takes place. It consists of three parts- Stigma, style, and ovary.
