Question

Find the perimeter of the semicircular region.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Find the distance around the curved path

Given: Diameter (d) = 7cm

We know that

Radius (r) = d2

r = 72

r = 3.5 cm

Now,

Distance around curved path = Circumferenceofcircle2

Distance around curved path = 2πr2

Distance around curved path = πr

Distance around curved path = 3.14×3.5

Distance around curved path = 11 cm (Approximately)

Step 2: Find the perimeter of a given figure.

Perimeter of given figure = Distance around curved path + Diameter of semicircular region

Perimeter of given figure = 11+7

Perimeter of given figure = 18 cm
Hence the perimeter of given figure is 18cm
