Let the coordinates of the point on x - axis be (α, 0)

Perpendicular distance of the point (α, 0) the line 4x + 3y - 12 = 0 is

∣ ∣4α+3(0)12(4)2+(3)2∣ ∣=4α1216+9=4α125

It is given that 4α125=4

4α125=±4

Now 4α125=4 or 4α125=4

4α12=20 or 4α12=20

4α=32 or 4α=8

α=8 or α=2

Thus the points on x - axis are (8, 0) and (-2, 0).
