The correct option is C 8 V
Using potential drop method, we can write the potentials of different points as shown in the figure.


Using KCL:

2[0(V+4)]+1[0(V+8)]+2[0(V+12)]=0

2V8V82V24=0

5V40=0

V=8 V

So, potential difference across a and b,

VaVb=V0=8 V

Hence, option (C) is correct.

Note : Negative sign shows that potential at b is higher than at a.
