Find the ratio in the following statement.

Out of total $36$ fruits in a basket, $14$ are apples, $16$ are oranges and the remaining are pineapples.

Find the ratio of the number of apples to the number of oranges.

Given , total number of fruits in a basket $=$ $36$,

number of apples $=$$14$

number of oranges $=$$16$

number of pineapples $=$$36-14-16=6$

$\therefore$ the ratio of the number of apples to the number of oranges is $14:16=\frac{14}{16}=\frac{14÷2}{16÷2}=\frac{7}{8}=7:8$

Hence, the ratio of the number of apples to the number of oranges is $7:8$.
