Find the ratio in the following statement.
Out of total $36$ fruits in a basket, $14$ are apples, $16$ are oranges and the remaining are pineapples.
Find the ratio of the number of apples to the number of fruits in the basket.

Given , total number of fruits in a basket $=$ $36$ ,
number of apples $=$ $14$
number of oranges $=$ $16$
number of pineapples $=$ $36 - 14 - 16 = 6$
$∴$ the ratio of the number of apples to the number of fruits in the basket is $14 : 36 = \frac{14}{36} = \frac{14 \div 2}{36 \div 2} = \frac{7}{18} = 7 : 18$
Hence, the ratio of the number of apples to the number of fruits in the basket is $7 : 18$ .
