Using the section formula, if a point (x,y) divides the line joining the points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) in the ratio m:n, then
(x,y)=(mx2+nx1m+n,my2+ny1m+n)
Let the ratio be m:n
Therefore, we have
(1,6)=(m6+n(3)m+n,m8+10nm+n)
0=7m2n&14m+4n=0=>mn=27=>m:n::2:7
