Find the ratio in which the line 2x +y -4 =0 divide the line segment joining the points A(2,-2) and B(3,7).

Solution :-
Let the ratio be k:1
then co-ordinates will be ((3k+2/k+1) , (7k-2/k+1))
putting the co-ordinates in equation, we get
2(3k+2/k+1) + (7k-2/k+1) =4
(6k +4+7k-2)/(k+1) =4
13k+2 = 4k +4
7k = 2
k=2/7
.: Line segment divide in ratio of 2:7
