Let the point (x,0) on x-axis divide the line segment joining the points A (3, -3) and B (-2, 7) in the ratio a:1.

y=ay2+y1a+1

0=7a3a+1

a=37

Now, for the x-coordinate

x=ax2+x1a+1

x=2×37+337+1=32

So, the coordinate of the point of division is 32,0.
