Find the ratio of molar amounts of H2s needed to precipitise metal ions from. 20 ml each of 1 M CD(NO3)2 and 0.5 M.CuSO4?

Chemical reactions:

1) H2S + Cd(NO3)2 CdS + 2 HNO3moles 1 1 1 2

Moles of Cd(NO3)2 = 11000×20=0.02 mole
Hence, according to the above reaction, moles of H2S needed = 0.02 moles

2) H2S + CuSO4 CuS + H2SO4moles 1 1 1 1

Moles of CuSO4 = 0.51000×20=0.01 mole
Hence, according to the above reaction, moles of H2S needed = 0.01 moles


Therefore, the ratio of molar amount of H2S needed will be = 0.02 : 0.01 = 2 : 1.
