Question

Find the ratio of the electric and gravitational force between two protons.

Open in App
Solution

Charge on proton =1.6×1019
Felectrical=14πϵ0×qqr2=9×109×(1.6)2×1038r2
mass of proton =1.732×1027 kg
Fgravity=Gm1m2r2=6.67×1011×(1.732)×1054r2
$\dfrac{F_e}{F_g}=\dfrac{\dfrac{9\times 10^9\times (1.6)^2\times 10^{-38}}{r^2}}{\dfrac{6.67\times 10^{-11}\times (1.732)\times 10^{-54}}{r^2}}
=\dfrac{9\times (1.6)^2\times 10^{-29}}{6.67(1.732)^2 10^{-65}}=1.24\times 10^{36}$
