Find the ratio of the price of coffee to that of tea, when coffee costs 75 per 250g and tea costs 175 per kg.

Open in App
Solution

Since, the costs of coffee for 250g= 75

So, the costs of coffee for 1g = 75250 = 310

So, the costs of coffee for 1000g=3×100010=300

i.e. costs of 1kg = 300 [1kg=1000g]

and the Costs of tea for 1kg = 175

Hence, the ratio of the price of coffee to that of tea is

300:175=300175

Dividing its numerator and denominator by its HCF 25

300÷25175÷25=127or,12:7

Therefore the ratio of the price of coffee to that of tea is 12:7.
