Solution

Step 1: Given data

Mass of copper vessel,

m=200g=200×10-3kg=0.2kg

Heat supplied ,

Q=1600calories=1600×4.184J(1cal=4.184J)

Specific heat of copper c=420Jkg-1°C-1

Step 2. Finding rise in temperature

Rise in temperature, t=?

Heat supplied is given as,

Q=mct,

So,

t=Qmc

=1600×4.184J0.2kg×420Jkg-1°C-1

=6694.484=79.69580°C

Hence, temperature of the copper vessel rises by 80°C.
