The formula for total discount in case of successive-discounts :
If the first discount is x% and 2nd discount is y% then , Total discount = ( x + y - xy / 100 ) %
Solution:
As the successive discount is 10% and 20%
Total discount = ( x + y - xy / 100 ) %
x = 50% and y = 60%
Total discount = [ 50 + 60 –( ( 50 x 60) / 100)] %
= ( 110 – 30 ) %
Total discount = 80%
