Question

Find the slope of the line , which makes an angle $$30^{\circ}$$ with the positive direction of y-axis measured anticlockwise .

Solution

The line l makes an angle $$30^{\circ}$$ with positive y-axis in the anticlockwise direction and it inclines $$120^{\circ}$$ with the positive x-axis
$$\therefore  Slope = \tan \theta  120^{\circ}  \because \theta = 120^{\circ}$$
$$= \tan (180^{\circ}- 60^{\circ})$$
$$-\tan 60^{\circ}= -\sqrt{3}$$
