Question

Find the slope of the line which passes through the points A(4,-6) and B(-2,-5).

Open in App
Solution

Finding the slope of the line passing through A(4,-6) and B(-2,-5):

The slope of the line joining the points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is given by:

m=y2-y1x2-x1

For the lines passing through the points A(4,-6) and B(-2,-5), the slope is

m=-5-(-6)-2-4 here y2=-5,y1=-6&x2=-2,x1=4

m=-5+6-6

m=-16

Hence, the slope of the line passing through the points A(4,-6) and B(-2,-5) is -16.
