Find the solution of the following pair of equations.
3x−5y=−1 and x−y=−1
x = - 2 and y = - 1
3x−5y=−1 ...(1)
x−y=−1 ...(2)
On multiplying equation (2) by 3, we get
3x−3y=−3 ...(3)
On subtracting equation (1) from (3), we get
2y=−2
⇒y=−1
On substituting y=−1 in equation (2), we get
x+1=−1
⇒x=−2
∴x=−2 and y=−1
