Open in App
Solution

Let 6+42=±(a+b)
Squaring both sides,
6+42=a+b+2ab
Comparing both sides,
a+b=6 ........ (1)
42=2ab
or 8=aba=8b ............ (2)
From (1) and (2)
8b+b=6
or, 8+b2=6b
or, b26b+8=0
or, b24b2b+8=0
or, b(b4)2(b4)=0(b4)(b2)=0
b=2,2
a=2,4
Squaring root is ±(2+4)=±(2+2) Ans
