Find the square roots of the following numbers to the fourth decimal place by the division method. Then, write the approximate value of each square root up to the third, second and first decimal places.

The square root of 10 can be obtained by using the division method as follows:

10=3.1622
∴ The square root of 10 is 3.1622
The approximate value of 3.1622 up to the third decimal place can be written by rounding the value of the last digit as 3.162
The approximate value of 3.162 up to the second decimal place can be written by rounding the value of the last digit as 3.16
the approximate value of 3.162 up to the first decimal place can be written by rounding the value of the last digit as 3.2

∴ The square root of 10 is 3.1622
The approximate value up to the third decimal place is 3.162
The approximate value up to the second decimal place is 3.16
The approximate value up to the first decimal place is 3.2
