Find the sum of the following arithmetic progressions:
$\frac{x - y}{x + y}, \frac{3 x - 2 y}{x + y}, \frac{5 x - 3 y}{x + y}, . . . .$ to $n$ terms

Solution

sum of n terms = $n / 2 (2 a + (n - 1) d)$
here a= $x - y / x = y$
d= $(3 x - 2 y / x + y) - (x - y / x + y)$
= $2 x - y / x + y$

hence sum= $\frac{n}{2 (x + y)} {n (2 x - y) - y}$
