The greatest term of (r+1)th term in the expansion of (a+b)n is given by,
Tr+1=nCranrbr
Here, n=15,a=3x,b=1x
15Cr3x15r(1x)r=Tr+1
15Crx15r3(1x)r=Tr+1

15Cr(1)rx15r3xr2=Tr+1

15Cr(1)rx15r3r2=Tr+1.
So we need to find the value for x such that,
15r3r2=0 ,only then that term will not contain x
302r3r=0

r=6
T6+1=T7=15C6(1)6x0=15C6
Therefore 7th term will not contain x.
