Question

Find the three ordered pairs (for each) satisfying the following equations -
1 - x + 2y = 5 and 2x + 4y = 17
2 - 2x + 3y = 10 and 4x +6y = 20

Solution

x+2y = 5....12x+4y = 17 or x+2y = 172....2But equation 1 and 2 cannot be true simultaneously so it is not satisfied by any value and has nosolution.2)2x+3y= 10 .....14x+6y= 20 or 2x+3y = 10 .....2Since equation 1 and 2 are same so it has infinitely many solutions.
