2 is one of the roots of the equation. Putting x = 2 in the equation,

$a^{2}$ × $2^{2}$ - 4a × 2 + 4 = 0

⇒ $a^{2}$ - 2a + 1 = 0

⇒ ${(a - 1)}^{2}$ = 0

⇒ a = 1
