Question

Find the value of k for which the function f(x)=x2+3x10x2,x2k,x=2 is continuous at x=2.

Open in App
Solution

The function f(x) is given to be continuous at x=2.
Then limx2f(x)=f(2)
or, limx2x2+3x10x2=k [Since f(2)=k]
or, limx2(x+5)(x2)x2=k
or, limx2(x+5)=k
or, k=7.
