Replace $x$ as $- 2$ in the expression:
$3 x^{2} - 2 p = 2 x$
$3 (- 2)^{2} - 2 p = 2 (- 2)$
$12 - 2 p = - 4$
$= 12 + 4 - 2 p$
$= 16 - 2 p$
So, the remainder is $16 - 2 p$ . Now substitute the value of remainder as $4$ .
$16 - 2 p = 4$
$16 - 4 = 2 p$
$12 = 2 p$
$∴ p = 6$
