If $a$ and $b$ are two whole numbers, then $a + b = b + a .$ This property is called the commutative property of addition.
by comparing both RHS to LHS,
$x + 35 = 35 + 49$
$∴ x = 49 .$
Hence, the value of $x$ is $49 .$
