When x=2, the expression becomes $\frac{α}{2}$ , independent of y.
Another way of doing it is,

Let Z= $\frac{(2 x - 4) + y α}{(x - 2) + 2 y}$

Find $\frac{d z}{d y}$ and equate it to zero [We will learn it in XII th] i.e., $\frac{d z}{d y}$ = 0
and find the value of x. Both the ways we get the same value
